It depends on the fabric, the maker and the level of customisation: ready-to-wear with alterations, semi-custom or fully made to measure. Budget for the whole look — shirt, shoes, belt or braces, bow tie or tie — as the accessories add a noticeable amount.
When should I start on the groom's outfit?
For made to measure, 4 to 6 months ahead — two or three fittings are needed. For a ready suit with alterations, 2 to 3 months is enough. The final fitting ideally happens 1 to 2 weeks before the wedding, with the shoes that will be worn.
What suit works for a summer wedding?
Light fabrics — fresco wool, linen, cotton blends — and lighter shades such as beige, grey or light blue cope best with the heat. For an evening reception, dark blue remains a safe choice. For outdoor venues, prefer an unlined jacket.
